The Site for Expo 2020
The place of Expo 2021 is in the Dubai South region in close proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport. The place is easy to reach from the International Airports and cruise Terminals of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Al Wasl is a neighbourhood in Dubai that lies in western Dubai, flanked by the 1st and 2nd interchanges of route E 11. This residential community is bordered by Jumeirah, Business Bay, Al Safa and l Satwa.
The Al Wasl Plaza is the Expo site that will host the cultural events of the 192 member countries. It is built over 4.38 square kilometres.
Some 2 square kilometres is for the Expo gated part. The other 2.4 square kilometres is for the expo facilities and participant lodging, warehousing, transport nodes, logistics, retail and more.
There will be three Thematic Districts for the subthemes, Mobility, Opportunity, and Sustainability. In the gated area are 192 Country Pavilions. They will showcase the culture, architecture, and displays of all participating countries. In the Thematic, Pavilions are interactive exhibitions and appealing content for making the themes entertaining for the visitors. Moreover, the Thematic Districts will have performance areas, art installations and innovation galleries and outdoor gardens. The site will also have a children’s park and will host an events program for families.
Visitors can also indulge in various retail and food options in the gated area. They can savour dishes from the World over and have exclusive shopping experiences.
