You’ll need to enter a negative PCR test result if you wish to enter the UAE. However, Emiratis arriving at Dubai’s airports are exempted from having to do this. Tests might be conducted again on some residents upon arrival. You’ll have to stay in quarantine for 12 days if the test result is positive. You would be liable to a fine of AED 50,000 if you are found to violate quarantine rules.
Quarantine Guidelines for Travelers to Dubai
A negative PCR test result is a must at the airport departure if you are an expatriate UAE resident or a tourist. This test must have been taken within 96 hours of traveling to Dubai.
A test may be conducted on some residents again upon arrival at the Dubai airport. If you are needed to take another test on arrival, you’ll have to stay in quarantine at your home till the results are out. You’ll have to abide by the instructions of the Dubai Health Authority and remain in isolation if the result is positive. No self-quarantine shall be necessary if the results are negative.
No PCR test prior to departure shall be conducted shall be necessary if you are a UAE citizen irrespective of where you are coming from. You shall however be tested on arrival at Dubai.
Quarantine Guidelines for Travelers to Abu Dhabi
Look up ‘green’ and other countries to know about quarantine guidelines for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers arriving at Abu Dhabi. Travelers to Abu Dhabi, including UAE citizens and residents will have to abide by the following quarantine guidelines from July 5, 2021.
Vaccinated Travelers
A PCR test on arrival is a must for vaccinated travelers from green countries followed by another test on the 6th day after arrival. No quarantine shall be necessary.
This protocol is applicable to only vaccinated citizens and residents of the UAE who took their second dose at least days prior to their UAE arrival at the UAE. This information must also be documented on the ALHOSN app.
Unvaccinated Travelers
Unvaccinated citizens and residents who arrive from the green countries shall have to take a PCR test on the 6th and 12th day after their arrival. No quarantine shall be necessary.
Unvaccinated travelers arriving from non-green countries shall have to quarantine themselves for 12 days after taking a PCR test after upon arrival. Another PCR test is also mandatory on the 11th day after arrival.
Quarantine Guidelines for Travelers to Sharjah
A negative PCR test result shall have to be presented at the airport departure if you are an expatriate UAE resident or a visitor to the country. The test must have been taken within 72 hours of traveling to Sharjah. These rules were implemented on April 13, 2021.
All residents and visitors shall have to undergo an RT-PCR test after arriving at Sharjah airport and remain in quarantine till they have received the results. If the test result is positive, you’ll have to remain in self-isolation for 14 days and follow the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s instructions.
Penalty for Violation of Quarantine Rules
An offender would be liable to a fine of AED 50,000 for violation of home quarantine procedures at it would amount to endangering the lives of others.
