It is an open-air museum with 22 pavilions and 80 historical homes. Furthermore, you will find the house of Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum– the former residence of Dubai’s pioneering ruling family. This is not it, this old district filled with tales of the city offers opportunities to invest and develop in the city’s history and culture.

Top Attractions of the Pavilions & Historical Homes

• Dubai Creek– Birth of a City

This home takes you back in time to approximately 123,000 BCE. It shows you the timeline of the beginning of civilization around the Gulf. In addition, a multi-media experience is available here that provides deeper insight into the history and development. Hence, get ready to witness the beginning of the society that takes shape on the water of the creek.

• Traditional Craft House

Among the various houses inside the Al Shindagha Museum, one of the most favorite houses is the Traditional Craft House. It showcases various handicrafts and evidence of the skills that date back to the time when the skills of making pottery, fabrics, jewelry, and cookware using traditional materials only. One of the best examples is how the parts of date palms were used to create a beautiful ingenious objects from every corner.

• The Perfume House

The former home of the late Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum– the famous perfume maker, has now become the perfume house bearing a long rich history of perfume in Emirati culture. Besides, you can also explore other houses that reflect the various shades of the city of Dubai and its cultural heritage.

• Culture of the Sea

The culture of Sea House carefully depicts Dubai’s peak of the pearl trade in the early 20th century. Besides, it also gives glimpses into the family life in the past including how families managed their time when the men spent a lot of time on the dhows.

• Life on Land

The house Life and Land is the one that provides us with a thematic and full-immersion presentation that starts with an impressive 4D technology introduction. When you put in a Head Mounted Display letting you see the world like a falcon who is flying over the deserts, the mountains, and the coasts, you engage in the process called “seeing via a falcon’s eyes”.

Other Important Information

• Kindly carry a valid ID or passport when visiting the museum for identification.
• No refund for unused or partially used services.
• Transportations are meant to arrive on time and let you enjoy every show on time.
• If there’s an issue with the transportation, a refund request can be submitted later on.
• There is a specialized workshop every weekend from 4 PM to 7 PM.
• please refrain from carrying any food, beverage, glassware, or alcohol into the museum.
• Guests need to arrive 15 minutes before the touring time.
• Avoid taking photographs inside the museum. A permit application is needed beforehand for clicking photos.

• Guests should be in semi-formal attire.
• Avoid wearing shorts, beachwear, and flip-flops when visiting the museum.

• By Metro

Take the Dubai Metro Green Line to Al Ghubaiba Metro Station. Then you can walk for just 2 minutes to reach the attraction.

• By Car

Drive on Sheikh Rashid Rd or D75 and D92, and merge on Al Khaleej Street or D92. Take a slight right, then take the second exit at the roundabout and continue on the right to reach the Al Shindagha Museum.
